Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Sat Dec 12, 2015 1:37 pm

Felix sat under a large Oran Berry tree, his face hidden in the cool shadow. His breathing was slow as he tried to relax and look around at where he was. It was a route; Route 203 to be exact. He had left Jublife City without looking back and he was feeling instantly homesick. He had lived in Jublife all his life, and now he had to find a new place to live. He had to start over...

"Shinx!" the sweet voice of his Pokemon partner startled Felix out of his daze. The small electric type pounced onto his chest with a happy leap. Luckily for Felix, the Shinx wasn’t very big yet so it was only a small impact. Felix smiled and laughed as he scratched Shinx’s furry head.

“Hey Shinx. How’re you feeling today?” He asked, looking around the route in search for something to catch his eye.

“Shinx!” Her happy little shout answered Felix’s question. He sat up against the Oran Berry tree as Shinx readjusted herself to sit on his lap, starring up at her trainer. Felix starred up at the clear blue sky, a few white clouds drifting by as flocks of various Flying type Pokemon flew overhead. Felix could identify a few of them, but there were some that he had no idea they existed. There were Starly, a few Jumpluffs, a Scarmory or three, and an occasional Cottonee. Felix smiled a little wider seeing all the different species in their natural environment. He suddenly got an idea and opened his travel pack. He reached inside and took out his notebook and a pencil. He flipped to the first blank page and began writing.

“As the sun peaked over the hilltop, its bright, warm smile bathing the valley in a golden light. Many of the Pokemon living there were glad to see the light and quickly arose from where they had been sleeping. Others, weren’t as welcoming as they quickly tried to get back to sleep. A Honchkrow’s caw echoed through the valley as the day began.”

While Felix wrote, Shinx noticed the open bag. She stealthily approached it, keeping low to the ground as she slinked towards it. She locked her intense eyes on it, as if she thought it was another Pokemon and she was trying to intimidate it. Suddenly, she propelled herself forward and tackled the bag, causing it to fall over and the contents to spill out. This broke Felix’s concentration as he looked back at the commotion. Seeing his papers and supplies on the ground, he sighed and quickly started to scoop them up before the wind could get them.

“Really?” He asked Shinx, who was now watching him carefully. It was as if she was waiting for him to do something specific. He shook his head with another sigh as he reached for the next piece of paper. But the moment he touched it, he realized what it was without looking. It was a letter, one of two letters he had received before leaving Jublife. The letter currently in his hand was a letter from his father in Kanto. The other letter had been from the Sinnoh Regional Book Society. He hadn’t opened either, because seeing both of them made him sick to his stomach. But rubbed his eyes as he leaned back against the tree, the letter from his father still in his hand. He didn’t want to look at it, but he knew he had to eventually. Slowly, he tore open the envelope and took out the letter. He hesitated for a second before finally unfolding the letter itself and reading what it had to say.

“Dear Meredith and Felix,
I know this letter is later than usual, and there’s a reason for that. Unfortunately I can’t tell you that reason. What I can tell you is that I miss you both very much and I wish I could return home. Now for the bad news; this will be my last letter. I have already transferred the rent money to the account, there’s more than usual given the circumstances. I’d love to explain why and I want nothing more than to come home to the two of you, but I can’t. I’m sorry. Felix, you need to take care of your mother from now on. You’re the man of the house and you’ll need to provide for the two of you. I love you both and I hope you can understand.
With Love,
Blake Marth.”

Felix’s hands shook as he finished the letter. A few tears fell onto the paper, splattering across the note and causing damp, weak spots. He wiped his eyes with his sleeves as he looked up and took deep breaths. A flood of different emotions and thoughts were rocketing around his mind. Was it right of him to keep his life from his father? He hadn’t told his father about anything that recently happened; nothing about his career as an author, nothing about his new found wealth from that career path, and nothing about his mother’s death. As far as Felix was concerned, his father didn’t deserve to know. He hadn’t been there for them except for the occasional rent money with an even rarer letter telling that he wouldn’t be home for birthdays or anniversaries or much of anything else. And this letter, this final letter, was the nail in the coffin. He crumpled the paper in his hand and held it there for a few seconds, his hands shaking from the pent up anger and sadness. Then he took a deep breath, dropped the paper, and returned to his writing. He needed the distraction. Taking his pencil again he returned his attention to the draft he had started.

“One of the Pokemon to wake up was a young Bidoof,” He stopped, his mind debating whether or not to use a Bidoof as the main character. There were hundreds of Pokemon to choose from, why Bidoof? He shook his head and erased the word. He put the tip of his pencil back on the page, but found that he couldn’t put anything to replace it. He had hit a barrier; writer’s block.

“Shi...” Shinx mewed, causing Felix to turn his head. Shinx was sitting there with her intense eyes focused on his own. Hanging out of her mouth was the letter from the Book Society. She tilted her head to the side, silently asking him to read the letter. Felix tried to stare Shinx down, but the Flash Pokemon beat him out.

“Fine, you win.” Felix grumbled as he took the letter, much to Shinx’s delight. He tore open the envelope and removed the letter, flipping it open as he did so. He read the letter out loud, as if Shinx wanted to hear the message too.

“To One, Mr. Star Raptor
On behalf of the Sinnoh Regional Book Society, we congratulate you on your success and the success of your novels. This letter is being sent to you as a group “good luck” from all of us at the office. We understand that the passing of your mother has affected you greatly and you have our sympathies. We have received your message, much to the dislike of your agent, telling us that you will be taking a personal vacation for a time. We understand completely and wish you the best of luck. However, do remember to work on more books when you find the time, (or else your agent might get lazy.) Again, farewell and enjoy yourself!
Best Wishes,
President Welsh
Sinnoh Regional Book Society”

Felix laughed to himself and found that he was smiling as he read the last sentence. President Welsh, known around the society as Mr. President, was a kind old man who had become one of Felix’s best friends over the years. Seeing the letter was handwritten by Mr. President himself, it almost made Felix forget about the first letter. He smiled and set the letter down, looking between the sky and Shinx. Then he smiled and leaned back against the tree, enjoying the breeze as he tipped his hat over his eyes. Shinx crawled onto his chest and curled up on his stomach, closing her eyes as well. They rested until something, or someone, suddenly woke them up.

The source of disturbance was rather unusual. The Flash Pokemon drowsing on her Trainer's chest would open her amber eyes, blinking curiously a couple of times as her ear twitched. She seemed to be picking up some sound to their right, as she immediately glanced that way shortly after the second ear-twitch. Nimbly jumping off, the small feline would bristle and growl at the invisible source. Who approached? A stranger?

It was a small Pawniard that emerged from the obscuring foliage. It seemed to be foraging, lost in thought and deep in concentration. Either way, it didn't notice the presence of the male and his pokemon until Shinx sparked threateningly. The dual Dark/Steel type looked puzzled, possibly wondering about the presence of the duo, before noting the aggressive antics of the Shinx. Though the Sharp Blade pokemon held itself regally, it didn't look any older than the Shinx itself. Regardless, body language was universally known, and the Pawniard shifted into a bracing position, ready for battle.

When Shinx jumped off his chest, Felix's eyes opened and he quickly sat up looking around in a panic. When he saw Shinx poking around in the grass he got to his feet and quickly walked over to the duo. "Shinx, what are you doing?" He asked, cautious to start a fight with a random Pokemon. They had never fought anything together. This would be their first battle.

Shinx looked back at Felix with that all too familiar look of determination. "Shinx!" She chimed and Felix nodded. "You're right! Let's do this!" He stood behind his companion as the Pawniard took its battle stance. A tight smile formed on Felix's face, the feeling of adrenaline flowing through both him and Shinx. He thought hard about his various days spent researching pokemon types and moves, trying to decide which move would be the best. Suddenly, he remembered a move that Shinx seemed skilled at.

"Alright, let's get this battle started!" he pointed a finger intensely at the Pawniard. "Shinx, use Fire Fang!"

The small pokemon growled as its mouth ignited instantly into a sort of mini-inferno, captured all in Shinx's mouth. The Flash Pokemon leaped towards the Pawniard, her jaws open and ready to snap down on her opponent.

(Evidently Fire Fang also has a side effect of being able to cause the opponent to flinch o3o Did you know that?)

The dual type fighter was ready. Blades glinting in the sun, and steely determination shining in the ironically Steel type's eyes, the Pawniard leaped forward at the same time Shinx did, as though the command the Trainer had called out was a trigger for the beginning of movement. Pawniard didn't seem especially skilled at battle, but it did recognize danger when it saw one. Drawing closer to the Shinx, it noticed the flaming fangs of the little vixen, and tried to skid to a halt, in a vain attempt to avoid the powerful move. However, its efforts were futile, and it cried out in pain as SHinx clamped down with a vicious type-advantage boosted move. The super effective nature of the attack had clearly taken its toll, and Pawniard staggered back. Scorch marks were littered across its arms and torso, evidence of where the strike had found its mark.

As though to add insult to injury, if the Fire Fang wasn't enough, Pawniard suddenly voluntarily combusted in a painful swirl of fire that engulfed the poor Steel type, eliciting another cry. Luck was against the dual type pokemon; it had been Burned! The residual damage left the foe drained - a single powerful strike from the Shinx had handily incapacitated the opposing Dark/Steel type.

Regardless, the little fighter was not going to go down without a fight. Its eyes narrowed, and a Leer flashed across its face, in an attempt to make a brave stand and cow down its opponent. Intimidation played a great factor in battles, as the wielder of the fierce Electric feline would well know.

Felix was amazed about how well their first attack went. Not only was it a solid hit, but it did great damage and also caused a burn effect! Felix almost did a little victory dance. "Great work Shinx!" He called out to his companion. The Flash pokemon looked back at him and nodded. "Shinx!" She called out as the Pawniard stood across from them, beaten and burnt but still determined to fight.

Felix adjusted his tie, a confident feeling coming over him. Shinx was feeling it too. She was excited that her attack had landed and she was feeling strong. Her first battle, and certainly not her last. She was going to win, she had to.

Felix pointed again to the Pawniard. "Let's wrap this up! Shinx, finish it with another Fire Fang!" Once again the inferno erupted in Shinx's mouth as she pounced at the Pawniard, jaws opened and ready to attack.

The Pawniard proved to be sharper than it looked- er, maybe not. It look pretty sharp after all. Regardless, dashing forward with what little energy it could muster, the Sharp Blade pokemon kept its body low to the ground. Visibly flinching at the sight of the dreaded fiery attack headed its way at twice the speed, it seemed to regret its choice of offensive action, and spread its arms to slow itself down. Too late!

Making a last-minute decision, the Pawniard made a wide sweeping movement with its bladed arm to balance itself, and curling itself up compactly right under the Shinx's chin, suddenly vaulted up moments later, in an attempt to clip the Flash feline with a crisp Headbutt! In one smooth move, the dual type foe also managed to avoid the fiery fate by attacking from below. Regardless, executing the maneuver, it staggered back, exhausted and being drained further by its status condition.

"Shinx!" Felix shouted, his friend getting caught by a last second headbutt from the Pawniard and sending Shinx backwards through the air, landing with a thud on her side. Felix took a step forward but then took it back. "Get up Shinx! I know you're stronger than that!" He called to his Pokemon.

Shinx growled a little as her eyes flashed open and she hopped to her feet, a determined look on her little face. She stamped her paw and glared at the Pawniard. "Shinx!" She roared, which given her size was adorable but to her opponent it was a fearful battle cry. She dug her feet into the ground with her claws to get a good grip. She wasn't planning on getting hit again. Not during this battle.

"Alright Shinx!" Felix cheered, glad his companion was still prepared to fight. "Let's try this again! Fire Fang!" This time, the inferno in Shinx's mouth seemed to burn a little brighter as Shinx used her newfound leverage and rushed forward, galloping towards her opponent with her jaws open and ready to strike.

The Pawniard didn't seem particularly intimidated by the Shinx's cry, but a grim look of resolute determination set over the dual type's face. Unfortunately, the battle had been decided by the first strike itself. The Pawniard didn't stand a chance. Just as it moved to step forth again at a praise-worthy effort for a second strike, it staggered as its health drained again. The Burn was clearly causing it a lot of pain, as it began wincing with every joint movement. So, the finalising move on the Shinx's part was more of a merciful oblivion than a shameful defeat.

As the fangs connected with the already collapsing body of the Blade pokemon, Shinx's body shone with radiant power, with a newfound release into a new plane of strength. The experience it gained from battle caused it to level up! As the somewhat anticlimatic battle ended, with a glint of steel and a flash of darkness, a shadow flitted past. It was as though it had no effect on the battle scene, but it could be noted that it seemed to have carried off the limp Pawniard's comatose form.

Shinx gained 6 exp!
Shinx grew to level 6 with 1 exp remaining!

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Tue Nov 22, 2016 9:08 am

Felix contained his excitement as they won the battle, a sense of honor and respect coming over him as the events that just happened seemed to hit him. Shinx appeared to share this sensation, as she seemed to bow to the Pawniard's body after it had fainted. Shinx's newfound power was an incredible feeling and she was eager to feel that way again.

"Great work Shinx. And to you," he looked at the Pawniard, but before he could finish his sentence, a flash of shadow and steel took away the body of the Pawniard into the grass and away from the battle. Felix blinked a few times to make sure he had seen everything properly before walking over to his companion. He reached down and scooped up Shinx, who was beaming with pride. "You were amazing!" He finally let his excitement break through as he hugged his friend close and spun around, laughing and smiling while Shinx seemed to do the same. Shinx was so happy that she had won and that she had made Felix proud of her.

The duo walked back over to the Oran Berry tree and sat down underneath it's shade, Shinx recovering from her battle. Felix looked up and saw a berry or to and stood up, grabbing at the ripe fruit. He grabbed 4 berries and sat back down with Shinx. "Eat up. You need your strength back." The Flash Pokemon didn't hesitate to devour the berries, chopping them and eating each berry in only 3 bites each. She felt full and happy, the berry's raising her health back to top condition. Then she curled up next to Felix, closed her eyes, and dozed off.

Felix took this opportunity to take out his notebook and return to his writing. He grabbed a pencil, pondered for a moment, and then went to work.

"One of the Pokemon to wake up was a young Pawniard," He smiled as the words came to him. He wrote about how the young Pawniard awoke from his slumber and went on an adventure. He traveled through the forest and was about to come across something amazing when Felix was once again hit by writers block. He needed a conflict or something for the Pawniard to discover. He tapped his chin with the eraser and went back to thinking.

In the back of his mind, he was wondering about what that strange shadow was that took the Pawniard's body. Was it another Pokemon, or maybe something else? Felix tried to shake away the thought, but he kept wondering what it could have been.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by MegaAbsol Wed Nov 23, 2016 5:28 am

Unfortunately, fate simply wouldn't let Felix rest quietly with his thoughts and his pokemon. Even before the ominous rush of air could strike the teenage male, the local avian wildlife took wing with cries of alarm. It would be exaggeration to say that the sky darkened, but a certain strange stillness came over the field, as though space and time itself were being distorted, a rip in the continuum fabric of the universe. The calm before the storm.

As though out from a shadow dream, in an instant, a dark void opened over Felix, high in the sky. Twin luminescent emerald orbs glared at the boy with inexpressible emotion, before in another aftershock, the void disappeared as suddenly as it had arrived; the glimpse into another dimension, a higher plane of existence closed in a quantum gunshot. Only, it seemed to leave something behind. Like an astral spirit, a body descended. Only, it was a flailing, screaming body. At first distant, but gradually growing in volume, a light, feminine voice was yelling blue murder. The events were certainly curious, but Felix had no time to stop and stare, for the new arrival was falling right at him.

Eve landed with an unceremonious whump on, or if Felix had good reflexes, a ways away from where Felix had been sitting a moment ago. Her first words were a disdainful "Gah!" as she lay on the forest floor with limbs askew and hair strewn everywhere in chaotic swirls. Her vivid green eyes - evidently the source of the mystery in the void - were closed initially in grumbling pain, but soon fluttered open in a grumpy frown. Well, her first impression didn't seem...great.

"Ow! ...ow ow owowow..." She sat up somewhat painfully; her bruised muscles protested with sharp stabs to add insult to injury. Feeling the last of the spiteful stabs around her hips - as though a personal devil was adding them in for good measure - Eve looked around in confusion. "..." Rendered silent by the drastic change, prior to which she remembered shamefully little, her mouth opened and closed several times as she sought the right words. With her back to Felix, she had yet to notice the young man. This did, however, give the budding writer an opportunity to take a good long look at her.

Despite her grumbling words, she seemed good-natured enough from afar. With lengthy brown hair and stormy green eyes, she looked to be around Felix's age, if slightly younger. Her clothes - meant for travelling and harsh weather, spoke of her status as a traveller, and the belt holding a single pokeball at her waist added the final straw. Here was a trainer of mysterious origins, appearing out of seemingly nowhere. What a plot! What twists would appear next?!

The girl paused for a moment before getting to her feet, dusting off the skirt she wore. After a cursory glance, she seemed relieved to find that her belongings - the brown bag lying next to her - had appeared along with her. Bending and picking it up, she petulantly dusted  that as well, still oblivious to the presence of the male. However, she still didn't seem convinced; besides the confusion writ large across her face, she still looked about as though looking for something. Never taking her eyes off the landscape, she slung the bag over her shoulders and slid her hand in before withdrawing it. Whatever she had looked for was present, but what was this final object she seeked?

Breathing in lightly, she seemed to have caught her breath, and immediately cried out in a form of a summons, "Abyss! Here, boy!" Abyss? One of her pokemon? Evidently seemed to be a canine. Would this 'Abyss' and Shinx get along? One would hope so, but such hopes would be promptly dashed as there was a violent clashing of blades somewhere in the undergrowth. The sharp sound, and resulting sparks attracted the attention of all around, most of all the girls'. Quick motion and little sound seemed familiar to her, rather than terrifying, as she seemed attracted to the signs of a sure-footed, agile pokemon. Like a magnet, a Mothim to a flame, she stumbled forward in something akin relief. "Abyss!" She called again. Who was this pokemon, and what in Arceus' name was it doing?

What jumped out of the undergrowth was not a canine. In a familiar shine of metal and oppressive darkness, a Bisharp appeared. Standing tall, and gleaming with power, the muscular fighter spared nary a glance to the humans standing close by. What was most notable was that it held the fainted form of the Pawniard under one bladed arm. So this had been the form to carry off the former foe! Perhaps a guardian or friend. After it appeared, as though an apparition, a ghostly white canine. With long, sleek fur, and burning red eyes, Absol's were no natives of Sinnoh, and so relatively few people should recognise one on sight, but what a sight they were. The girl stopped in her tracks, gaze flitting from the Bisharp to the Absol. Even as she silently watched and contemplated her next action, the Bisharp and Absol leaped forward again as one, blades and strengths clashing again. As the Bisharp parried the Absol's horn, sparks flew again, with the two sharp surfaces sliding against each other in a show of power.

The Absol's paws hunched as it braced itself for another battering attack by the Bisharp. The two Dark types put up a splendid display of grace and strength, but the girl intervened with a protesting cry. "Abyss! Get out of there!" Another strike by the Bisharp, who seemed to be taking the offence, and this attack seemed to nick the Absol. "It's just protecting the little one!" With resolute determination, the teenage female stood dangerously close to the battle. The Bisharp's piercing gaze flitted to the girl; anticipating aggression, the Absol sprang to face it again, keeping its back to Eve, but maintaining a respectful distance while growling and bristling fiercely. The stage was clear; each pokemon had something to protect.

There seemed to be no obvious winner of the duel, so the Bisharp dealt a hasty retreat in honour, cradling the Sharp Blade adolescent better before disappearing as before in a swift streak of dark and steel. The duo, Absol and trainer, watched the pokemon leave before the Absol turned around. It seemed to utter something akin to a mew, and the girl knelt, holding the Absol's head in her hands, connecting foreheads, and muttering something too quiet for the male to hear. Who were these two? Where did they come from?

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Wed Nov 23, 2016 10:56 pm

Things were going fine for Felix, until the girl fell on him. He felt the strange disturbance in the air, the unrest in the wind, and saw the strange wormhole in the sky above him. All this of these things put him on edge and he was about to get up and leave until he saw the girl falling out of the sky, right at him. He was frozen in surprise as dozens of questions bombarded him. His legs were uncooperative as the girl continued to fall. Finally, she landed with a hard thud on top of the young man, crushing him underneath her. Silver lining? He softened her fall and Shinx was left out of danger.

She pushed herself off of him and he took the opportunity to roll away, trying to recover from his newfound injury as he got to his feet and looked back at the mystery girl. He took notice of her lovely appearance, her noticeable features, and her strange sense of looking for something, but he remained silent. She had clearly been through some crazy experience and he didn't want to push her for answers. He quickly picked up Shinx and held her close to his body, to keep her safe in case this person was dangerous.

When the girl began to call for something, Felix could only assume it was a Pokemon of some sort. What else could be given the title of 'Abyss?' Before he could get the chance to ask, the sound of combat became very clear in the nearby forest. Felix jumped back with Shinx to get some distance as a Bisharp came out of the brush fighting some kind of white, canine Pokemon. The canine had a large sort of blade-like horn on the front of its head and was using this horn to counter the Bisharp's attacks. They rushed each other several times, each of them moving with a similar elegance as they struck. The girl suddenly approached the fighting and stood very close to the two opponents, trying to break them up as Felix stood nearby and watched the situation unfold. He held onto Shinx tightly, as the Flash Pokemon had seen the fight and was itching to be a part of it.

After some more words from the girl and what appeared to be a reunion between the girl and the white canine, Shinx managed to wiggle free from Felix's grip and rushed towards the white Pokemon in a curious fashion. "Shinx!" Felix called as he quickly tried to catch up with his companion before she got hurt. Whatever kind of Pokemon the canine was, it was clearly stronger than the little electric type. Shinx looked at the Pokemon with her bright eyes and appeared to bow with a sense of respect to the stronger Pokemon. Felix looked to the girl. "I'm sorry about her. She gets so excited around new people." Then he adjusted his tie and extended a hand towards the girl. "My name's Felix. Felix Marth. Now, if I may ask you just one question," he pointed to the sky. "Why did you fall on me?"

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by MegaAbsol Thu Nov 24, 2016 9:14 am

(I just realized Felix is basically an Absol gijinka! :3 White hair, red eyes...oh yes, Eve and Felix will get along juuuust fine...kekekekek....)

Eve was muttering little comforting phrases to Abyss while lightly rocking back and forth on her heels, and the Absol seemed to be purring, a rich deep rumbling deep in his chest. He wasn't a very expressive pokemon, but his emotions ran deep and sure. Steadfast as an oak, Eve thought. Her mossy gaze was fixed with Abyss' red one, but when the Absol's attention - and gaze - shifted, her own feeling of a sense of well-being wavered. She pivoted about, getting to her feet.

First impressions were last. Surprise caused her breath to catch - what faced her was rather unusual. It was as though she was looking at a mirror image of Abyss, only...human. Her cheeks flushed and her heartbeat quickened as she continued wordlessly staring, even as she was greeted with a loud greeting of 'Shinx!'. But...Abyss was standing right beside her, wasn't he? Her brows furrowed, and tearing her eyes away from Felix - why did it feel as though it physically pained her? - she stared down in confusion at Abyss, who returned the gaze with his own placid one.

She blinked a couple of times, gathering her scattered thoughts. Her fuzzy mind began joining together the fragments of what seemed to be her reality, even though it wasn't the one she remembered. No matter; she had Abyss beside her. What was the worst that could happen?

Her lips curved into an involuntary smile as a small Shinx raced up to Abyss in ecstatic curiosity. How cute. Evidently Abyss didn't think, shuffling uneasily away from the baby Flash. It anxiously fluffed itself up into a disgruntled ball of white and black, still staring at the little Shinx, unsure of what to make of her. To make things worse, the small feline was staring right back up with bright eyes. Abyss chuffed and moved to hide behind Eve, eliciting a giggle from the girl. The tough little 'Sol could take on a walking blade, no problem, but was terrified of children. How adorable. The best part was the Absol's very palpable discomfort, almost causing Eve to gleefully cackle. So something could unnerve him after all.

Well, she didn't want to gloat- her thoughts were interrupted as she was seemingly addressed by what she had considered a practical mirage. Her eyes went wide again, and her body stiffened awkwardly - if this really was a real person, what was she supposed to say? Should she do something? Or worse, were they asking her something? Oh, he was extending a hand to be shaken. Social anxiety caused her mind to slowly start shutting down, as she broke out in a cold sweat. Memories, still hazy, began flooding in.

The troublesome Psi had been napping someways off, and the naturally curious Eve, already enraptured by spending an entire happy day from the painfully grumpy Felix in the wonderful forests of Viridian, tried sneaking up on it. Abra were rare and powerful, and while capturing it was very much a possibility, she wanted to study the elusive psychic better. She'd never taken care of one, or even seen one in the possession of a trainer, for that matter. As soon as she reached out a hand...

The Abra had awoken, and in a panic teleported...by a twist of fate, exactly where Abyss stood by watchfully, a couple of feet away. Before Eve could formulate a lucid thought about how Teleport's chances were random, a startled Abyss struck out - causing another panic-driven Teleport.

The force of the telekinetic waves had probably flung the two apart, causing Eve to appear several meters away from where Abyss spawned - right in the way of the disgruntled but protective Bisharp. Instinct would have led the guardian dual type to attack, and a disarrayed Abyss would have been able only to defend reflexively.

As though the world had stopped, and began again, Eve released the breath she didn't realize she'd been holding. Abyss mewled plaintively, trying to get further away from the Shinx, but hesitant to leave her side. The familiar sound caused Eve to snap out of her reverie, and blankly blink at Felix for a couple of moments. The extended hand hovered awkwardly between them, and suddenly remembering her manners, she began holding out her own before her mind registered his question.

She had just began saying, "Oh, hello there. I didn't notice you. My name is Eve Iri-" when her mind seized up again. Embarrassment flooded in, caused her to bodily twitch as she understood what had happened. How had she not noticed?! She physically jumped backwards a couple of feet, hands flying back to cover her mouth, causing her next words to be muffled. "O-oh my Arceus, I'm so sorry! I-I really didn't mean to! That Darkrai-forsaken Abra-" Her panicky stream of words was cut short as she let out a tired sigh. It really had been her own fault. If she hadn't been meddling with the Abra, this wouldn't have happened. Who knew where she was? For all she knew, maybe she wasn't even in Kanto! What a thought!

She eyed the young man cautiously. The similarity to Abyss was striking. The same unruly white hair, which reminded her so much of a certain someone's fluffy white fur which took forever to brush, procuring loud grumbles. The sharp red eyes, with a piercing gaze, as though they stared into your very soul...only this male's eyes shone with intelligence, and a certain assured confidence. Abyss' eyes were too difficult to read under normal circumstances, but these...these eyes. They were transparent, clear; they couldn't possibly conceal. A mirror into the soul. Eyes of truth. She could trust this man.

Realizing, as always, at the worst of times that she had been staring, she broke the silence with a polite cough, uneasily wondering what this striking young man was thinking. She certainly wasn't putting up a good impression. "I-I'm sorry. Can we start over? Hi. I'm Eve. Eve Iridescence. Nice to meet you...Felix...?" Trying out his name, she stifled a certain surprise that she seemed to be meeting Felix's everywhere. Oh well. What a coincidence. Either way, he seemed to be nothing like the other Felix. Her eyes wandered again to the Shinx. Was it his? Must be. Maybe...well, she wouldn't strike the possibility off just yet.

"I'm terribly sorry, Felix, but I didn't mean to, er, fall on you. It just...chalk it up to happenstance. A long tale including shenanigans of psychic pokemon and teleporting," She furrowed her brows again as she waved her hand in an elaborate gesture. "But that being said, I need to know. This area...doesn't seem familiar to me. Um, do you...know where I am?" She blinked again, ending the sentence at an odd, half-petering sentence and dropping her head shyly between her shoulders, pursing her lips and looking around.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Thu Nov 24, 2016 3:57 pm

Felix only smiled warmly as the girl stared at him and tried to explain her situation to him. She stammered and stopped and started and continued to struggle with the words while Felix continued to stand there with his hand extended. He had been in several awkward situations before at social events; book signings, parties, family visits, etc. He knew how to handle himself in just about any social situation. As the girl tried to calm down and form coherent sentences, Felix studied her and the scene in front of him.

Her Pokemon was clearly very strong, much stronger than Shinx. But the fact that a clearly stronger Pokemon appeared to be hiding from his little Shinx made Felix smile even more. It made him imagine how the Pokemon would react if his Shinx was a full grown Luxray. His mind drifted a little as he focused on this thought. His little Shinx, growing up and becoming a Luxio, and then finally his family crest, a Luxray. He imagined the powerful figure, the strength and speed, and most of all, the eyes. Luxrays were known as the Gleam Eyes Pokemon. He longed to see those eyes.

When Eve finally formed a sentence apologizing for falling on him and blaming an Abra for some reason, Felix laughed to himself and put his hands in his pockets. He looked over to Shinx, who was still starring at Abyss intensely. "Shinx," He gave a little call. "Stop bothering them." Shinx looked back at Felix and, with a final stare at Abyss, she pranced over and jumped up onto Felix's shoulder.

"You, Ms. Iridescence, are in the wonderful region of Sinnoh. We're just outside of Jublife city to be precise." He managed a laugh as he motioned over to the Oran Berry Tree. "I'm sorry to ask, but would you like to sit down? You've clearly been through quite an ordeal. And maybe your Pokemon needs some recovery time after going up against that Bisharp." Then he popped the question. "What, kind of Pokemon is that? It's not from Sinnoh, at least I don't think it's from Sinnoh."

Should the girl accept his invite, he would walk over to the tree with her and pull out his notebook from his bag. He'd sit under the shade and look to Abyss. He quickly began writing down a full description of the Pokemon's appearance, from it's unruly white hair to it's prominent horn, and even the intense focus of it's red eyes. He smiled a little as he wrote, his mind calming down and ignoring the pain in his ribs and legs.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

(Gleam Eyes? *thinks of SAO!* Also, missed opportunity o3o Shiny Luxray have red eyes! You need to buy a Shiny potion or something at some point in time! >^<)

Eve averted her flustered gaze as Felix smiled - somewhat patronizingly, she thought. Was he laughing at her? Her eyes fluttered, half-shut in a mixture of guilt and embarrassment. "Muu..." She mumbled under her breath, wincing as Felix managed a laugh at her accusation - it would probably have appeared absol-utely wild to Felix. Regardless...he had a nice laugh. She looked up in surprise as Felix strode off, - she never did shake his hand - answering her question. She thought she'd mentally prepared herself for most any answer, even if he were to say 'the middle of Atlantis'. Evidently not. Sinnoh, huh? Even Atlantis would have been more predictable. She pursed her lips, looking off into the far distance, hands on hips. Sinnoh was a long way from home.

Abyss seemed glad as the Shinx ran off with pattering paws, and continued staring after it curiously. What was this little kitten? Being young himself, he was as curious as the Flash pokemon about the opposing mon. He exceeded the feline in strength, but had never encountered the species before. He watched as the Shinx leaped up to the male's shoulder, glanced at Eve's shoulder for a couple of moments before deciding against mirroring the action. His fur settled back to a more streamlined shape, and he pawed the ground anxiously, heading over to Eve.

Felix waved a hand, inviting her over to the welcome shade of the Oran tree. Eve didn't mind the sun, but she hovered over anyway, plopping down onto the ground. Sinnoh's weather was certainly very pleasant. A breeze picked up, running its spectral fingers through her open hair, rustling the free strands and causing her to huff lightly in annoyance, brushing the stray strands back. These were, of course, habitual involuntary actions; she was hardly paying attention to any around her, lost deep in thought. She jumped when Abyss nosed her, snuffling slightly. "What? Oh, yeah, go ahead," She vaguely motioned with her hand, and Abyss trotted off towards Felix, looking pleased.

Her gaze followed the canine, and as the Absol brushed past, lingered on Felix. "I'm sorry, I haven't been very polite, have I? I just needed a moment to gather my bearings," She laughed sheepishly, grinning amicably. "Thank you. You've been very hospitable," She paused, searching for words. Abyss reared up on his hinds legs, nearly as tall as a human being. His forepaws rested on the tree trunk and his face was entreatingly turned upwards, his resentful glare resting on the tantalizing berries. His muzzle was only a couple of feet away from the bunch of edibles he sought. It was a thin tree, but the Disaster pokemon decided to take his chances, and jumped up lightly.

"Abyss? Yeah, that looked like a very powerful Bisharp. And defending a young one at too. I'm glad - and a little surprised - he's alright!" She shuddered lightly at the memory of the dual Dark/Steel type. "Oh, and he's an Absol. It's alright, he's definitely not a native of Sinnoh. Absol's are usually found in Hoenn, so I guess I'm just plain lucky to find him in Kanto." She tucked some more hair behind an ear, absent-mindedly checking for a hair clip. "Allow me to introduce myself. Once again, I'm Eve Iridescence, from Kanto. What I assume was a few moments ago, I found an Abra while I was walking around Viridia- er, a forest. I don't know how familiar you are with Kantonian geography," She offered helpfully, eyes straying to watch what Abyss was doing.

"Well, I must have alarmed it a lot, because it teleported away, taking Abyss and me with it. Once again, we probably got lucky with the Abra sending us both to the same place. Somewhat." Oh, right. Abyss had spawned several meters from her. Oh well. Atleast it was the same region. "I'm really terribly sorry, though. Did I hurt you when I-" Her attention diverted again, resting on what Felix wrote. Sinnohese dialect and language seemed to differ slightly from Kantonian, but it wasn't unrecognizable. He was writing about Abyss. And...almost a perfect match too. Reminiscent of her own creation of the intriguing Absol, she slid her hand into the bag, resurfacing with her monochrome drawing, which she spread and smoothened out the wrinkles of. Two different kinds of art, over the same subject. So different in nature, and yet so similar. She looked up from her crumpled drawing to gaze at Felix for a couple of seconds - an artist in his own right.

Her surveying look didn't waver when, with a loud symphony of crackle, Abyss crashed to the grass amidst a myriad of branches, leaves and berries. This was not unexpected - despite him having probably found a branch to rest on, the tree simply couldn't have supported his weight. The Absol rolled off his back, chuffed indignantly and got to his feet. Shaking his snowy fur free of the various foliage and twigs, he trotted over haughtily, pausing to swipe a berry or two. There were plenty left on the ground, so Abyss spared only a curious glance for Shinx before spreading out on his side, basking in the sun while taking small bites of his well-earned prize.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Fri Nov 25, 2016 10:38 pm

As the Absol climbed the tree, Felix made notes about his climbing abilities. He remarked how the muscles moved and worked, how he focused on the berries before jumping up into the tree. He made notes about all the details he could spare regarding the Pokemon. It was very interesting to watch the foreigner at work. "An Absol?" He smiled as he said it. "That's cool. I've never heard of an Absol before." He continued to scribble down words as he began to form a story around the Pokemon. Something heroic, mysterious, and a touch a danger. He was quickly lost in a short story about the Pokemon known as Absol.

Shinx was resting comfortably next to Felix, her chin on his leg, as she starred intensely at the girl sitting in the sun. The Flash Pokemon hadn't encountered many strangers before, so she was wary of Eve. Something about people falling on her friend just didn't sit right with Shinx. She didn't growl, she didn't move, she didn't break her stare. She had lost her curiosity in the Absol and was now focused on the human.

Felix stopped his scribbling when Eve said 'Kanto.' His mind quickly rushed back to the thought of his father, to the letter he had read, and to the words on the paper. He swallowed hard as his smile disappeared. He put down his pencil and laid the pad of paper on his legs. He moved his jaw around without opening his mouth, trying to figure out what to say next. "Kanto, huh?" He coughed a little, clearly trying to remove some awkward tension. "I've never been to Kanto. But my uh, my father currently lives there." He coughed again, his face getting a little red from embarrassment. "But that's not important." He went back to his notepad and picked up his writing. He put the pencil to the paper but his hand refused to move. His mind was going too fast.

"Shinx," Felix looked at his companion with a strange kind of look. It was like a stern parent, but not too stern to cause the child to hate them. Shinx wasn't paying attention to him though. She was positively glaring at Eve. "Shinx, ple-" Before he could finish his sentence, the Absol crashed to the ground, taking some leaves and branches with him. Felix's attention snapped onto the ball of white fur. Shinx looked back too. She starred at Abyss for a second before bounding over to the Absol with a new sense of fun and excitement. She jumped over Abyss and landed in front of his face, looking into his eyes with her own eyes. Then she pawed at the Oran Berries sitting in front of the Absol.

Watching his friend behave the way she did made Felix stop frowning. In fact, he began to smile again. He smiled so much that he started to chuckle. He put his hand over his mouth to contain his laughter but he was obviously failing as he actually began to shake from his laughing. He was so happy to have Shinx with him in his time of lose and difficulty. She was his best friend. And he needed a best friend right now. He smiled and looked over at Eve with a glassy look in his eyes. "How long have you and Abyss been together?" He looked back at Shinx and Absol. "They're great, aren't they? Our best friends, huh?"

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by MegaAbsol Sun Nov 27, 2016 5:36 am

Eve had taken to vigorous head-nodding as Felix mused about Abyss. She loved talking about the fluffball, and she had an inkling that the Absol didn't really mind it either. Even as he lay there, half-drowsing with the wind rolling over his unprotesting form, she knew that he knew they were talking about him. Her attention flitted from her pokemon to the only other one present. Shinx.

The keen-eyed Flash pokemon had taken to staring at her steadily. Eve returned the gaze with her own curious one, but gradually grew uneasy with the persistent glare. Why was she glaring at her? Well, sure, she fell on her friend, but that... She shifted uneasily, anxious to appear nonchalant, but ended up appearing more suspicious than ever. Why was she anxious? She had nothing to fret about. She had spoken no untruth! Maybe the feline didn't like her. Why? The most she'd done was acknowledge her and spoken to her trainer. She didn't want to be disliked, especially by the pokemon of her new acquaintance. Paranoia began building up, mind buzzing with thoughts.

Well, she knew how to turn this thing around! A bribe! Sweets were the perfect leverage for any child, including the sweet-toothed Eve herself, and overjoyed with her idea (which she perceived to be a stroke of genius), she rummaged in her bag, eventually producing a Sweet Heart. Made of chocolate, it made for an irresistible treat for any - except Abyss. And her new Snivy. Yeah, that wasn't too comforting. Felix had evidently noticed his pokemon's actions, and had just began rebuking when the Shinx pranced off, reverting her attention back to Abyss.

The Absol groggily looked up, and saw the Shinx coming. Immediately self-conscious, he curled his paws up, retreating his front paws to hide within his collar of fur, essentially tucking them below his body. He looked rather funny, a fluffy blob of white sitting there in rigid attention, steadily watching the Shinx. It wasn't as though he didn't like the little lynx, it was just that he took a while to adjust around people. It had only taken Eve herself two weeks to get the Absol to listen, and that was without her persistently pestering him. He liked to be left alone, but this was certainly another way to hold his attention.

Abyss couldn't even get away with acting nonchalant and yawning in Shinx's face before rolling over to his side and promptly falling asleep. No, that certainly would not do. Shinx skidded to a halt right in front of his nose, almost colliding with his face. He blinked in surprise, but didn't retreat, instead woffling his nose in curiosity. His mouth opened and closed in a very quiet 'Sol', and after a moment of contemplating, rolled over a berry towards Shinx with a single claw. His tail gave a solitary wag, and his eyes sparkled with something akin to friendship before the light died down again to a glassy scarlet again.

Eve hesitated - the last time she'd tried an Oran berry, she couldn't get past the tough skin. Cooked Oran berries were bad enough, a raw one had to be finally tossed to Abyss, full of teeth marks everywhere, displaying like a shameful trophy where the poor teenager had tried to gnaw away at the fruit which was supposedly delicious. The only way she could have them was to furiously boil them until they were practically falling apart and dissolving into the water. Then wait for it to cool, slice and have what then tasted like overboiled apple. Yuck.

But pokemon seemed to like them - each to their own. Abyss stared for another minute with unwavering crimson eyes before looking down, picking up another berry and, as an act of nervousness, stuffed the whole thing in his mouth. It just about filled his maw, leaving little space for him to chew, so he sat there, once again conscious, cheeks bulging uncomfortably, trying to work around the fruit. He couldn't exactly spit it out, so he just had to chew painfully slowly, looking hilarious in the process. Eve couldn't suppress a chuckle, and fiercely stifled it after she let a light, lilting laugh out, but grinned when Felix himself began chuckling. Soon, the chuckle blossomed into a full-fledged, body-wracking laughing, and Eve found the humor contagious. Soon she was shaking just as hard as Felix, grasping her stomach - which hurt at this point - ignoring the baleful glares from the indignant Absol.

Wiping away a tear, her laughter gradually died away. "Heh. Yeah. Best friends indeed." Her eyes wandered over the Absol, noting the shifting of paws, the quiet rustle of grass underneath him, the quick duck of his head into his ruff; hiding his face. And to the Absol's own chagrin, his tail began to wag as he saw the humor of it. A gentle smile spread over Eve's face - when did this marvelous creature walk into her life and claimed his place, his righteous place for eternity? She lived without meeting him, but now she couldn't imagine life without him. When did they become best friends? Well, regardless of when they did, they would always be so. None could take his place. She glanced at Felix, looking at his own Pokemon. Wasn't that right?

(Gah, all those things to answer and ask (about his father o3o) and I couldn't because poetic sounding post >w<')

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Sun Nov 27, 2016 6:21 pm

Felix watched the events unfold in front of him with a casual smile. His grin quickly faded however as Shinx's attention was drawn to a new source; a rustling in the grass nearby. He slowly put his notepad down as he watched Shinx focus on the noise with that dangerous curiosity that she had. She got low to the ground, her intense eyes locked on the grasses as she began to stalk towards the forest. She looked like a veteran hunter, preparing to attack her pray with silent precision.

"Shinx," He called over to the Pokemon, putting his notebook aside. "Shinx..." She mewed to herself, her stalking getting her closer to the grasses. The rustling continues more feverishly until Shinx finally leaps at her prey. "Shinx!" Felix called as Shinx was propelled out of the grasses and back into the field, landing on her feet as if she hadn't taken any damage. She growled angrily as she glared at the Pokemon she had attacked as it emerged from the grasses. A Heracross! The large Bug/Fighting type, which appeared to have been foraging for berries nearby, was now glaring at the Shinx with a sense of anger in its eyes.

"Shinx! Get back!" Felix called, jumping to his feet and rushing over to where his friend had decided to stand her ground. He stopped just behind her, his eyes jumping from Shinx to the Heracross as he tried to figure out what to do next. Shinx continued to growl as sparks jumped from her legs to her cheeks in an attempt to intimidate the Heracross. Felix tuned into Shinx's competitive attitude and straightened his posture, adjusted his tie in preparation for the upcoming battle, and focused on the duo. "Here we go again." He muttered to himself.

He looked back at Eve and Absol, a thought lingering about how the Dark type would fair against the Bug/Fighting type. He had read before that Dark was weak against both types. He wasn't sure how Abyss would fair against the opponent, but that wasn't his call. He was sure that Shinx would be able to handle this fight, as long as she was careful. "Get ready Shinx!"

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by MegaAbsol Mon Nov 28, 2016 6:23 am

(Is that a battle encounter? If so, I'll have to roll for it. However, even if you do force it like in this case, there are some complications.

Here we go:

I rolled for Heracross's level; level 9. That'd be okay if it weren't for Hera's massive attack. And other stats which are much better than Shinx's Base Stats. It's moves at level 9? Arm Thrust, Bullet Seed, Night Slash. All of them have at least a 5% chance to OHKO (Night slash has a little more, I rolled for Bullet Seed and Arm Thrust's number of hits respectively. 1 and 4. A 4-hit anything (doesn't matter if Bullet Seed or Arm Thrust) is a guaranteed OHKO. And this from a 3 level advantage. Honestly, I was all for making it a strong foe anyway since forcing a roll is not allowed (besides by an item that you don't have) but the problem comes in when Fire Fang does only a paltry ~20% damage. I cannot really reroll since winning this fight is very much possible, just...not by Shinx.)

Now, I have two options. Post anyway, having Absol OHKO the Heracross (which it can do - I mathematically verified) or have you change your post, stating you want a roll. I'm honestly leaning towards the first option, since I don't wanna disrupt everything, but considering Shinx's competitive tendencies, that might not actually happen without Shinx fainting. So...)

(P.S.: If you want Abyss to finish the fight, go ahead and post saying Shinx attacked the Heracross. You can powerplay this time, saying the attack landed, but Heracross retorted with a powerful move that KO'ed Shinx. Abyss can then step in. Alternatively, if you're changing your post, please notify me by PM)

(EDIT: I doubt you wanna do the fancy graphics thing I do, but here are some battle calcs:

0 Atk Heracross Arm Thrust (4 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Shinx: 28-36 (121.7 - 156.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO (As you can see, 4 hits of either Bullet Seed or Arm Thrust OHKO Shinx instantly. The damage for both is same due to STAB)
0 Atk Heracross Night Slash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Shinx: 19-23 (82.6 - 100%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO (Night Slash is not much better. And the AI will almost always choose the best move possible, which in this case is 4-hit Bullet Seed (once again, a reminder, guaranteed OHKO) which in this case stands true since your post indicates the aggressive Bug/fighting type is angered, and has no reason to hold back.)

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by MegaAbsol Tue Nov 29, 2016 4:57 am

(The verdict has been passed! Judgement hath been served! o4o/)

Eve glanced again at Felix; she'd been doing that for a while, itching to ask him about his father - there was something about his reaction when he spoke about him that made her want to know more. Yes, she wanted to know more about him... Just as she opened her mouth to lightly breathe in and ask, the Shinx dropped into a crouch.

She knew that look. The predatory glare pokemon gained as they hunted their prey. It was a familiar look. As a matter of fact, the being whose face she'd grown used to have that look sat up, eyes glimmering with interest. All three watched with bated breath as the Shinx bunched powerful muscles, gathering energy for that inevitable spring. With a quiet cry, the feline finally sprang, and while Eve idly thought about what a wonderful form that leap was in, the Flash was thrown back equally fast.

It seemed she had a taste for big prey, as a large Heracross waddled out. It looked strong, stronger than the little feline. An odd foe to encounter, and a terrible one to anger. Eve sat up in alarm as the horned bug's eyes narrowed, arms flexing, ready for a fight. Felix seemed to prepare for a battle as well. It seemed this wasn't their first battle, but even so, Felix seemed nervous, fidgeting and calling out little encouragements.

The duo still seemed inexperienced, but they managed themselves rather well. Instinct drive the Shinx to attack, and Eve gasped in alarm. The baby pokemon couldn't possibly take on that dual type! As though time slowed, she watched each painful detail unfold - the Single Horn pokemon swung back an arm, took careful aim, and as the Shinx neared, batted out viciously with a massively powerful strike. The arm swept out like a battering ram, and striking the feline square in the mid-section, sent the poor Shinx flying. She would have probably fainted before she hit the ground. And the Heracross wasn't satisfied with that. It advanced towards the comatose form of the electric type.

"Abyss! Go!" Eve stumbled onto her knees and got up hastily as the Dark type rushed past in a blur. His mouth was now evidently free of berry - did he just swallow everything? - and he cried out sharply, gaining the Heracross' attention. The Bug/Fighting pokemon was strong, but Abyss was stronger. Even so...would he manage to defeat the pokemon he was doubly weak to?

Abyss didn't pause, simply launching his lithe form into a streamlined shape, horn pointed towards the offender. The foe cried out in anger and lowered its own horn, prepared for a battle of strengths, but Abyss knew better than to wrestle with a pokemon rumored to lift a 100 times its own weight. His broad paws touched the ground and he darted to the side, horn slicing towards the pokemon's torso. Feint.

Before the Heracross could recover, the fast sweeper jumped back again, creating distance before promptly closing in again. In many aspects, it looked like he was playing with his disarrayed foe; the Heracross had no chance. It was too slow and ponderous, while Abyss gracefully danced circles around it in a blur of black and white, all around, surrounding the confused foe.

The hot-headed fighter had had enough, and slammed a fist hard into the ground. Abyss stopped, hesitating for a second, and the Heracross saw his chance. Taking it in a trifle, the dual type slammed his other balled-up fist into the Absol's side. Abyss winced, but skidded sideways only about a foot, standing stock still after that and glaring at the confused foe. The intimidated bug type backed down from the ruffled Absol, whose piercing gaze drove deep into the Heracross so used to power, forging fear deep in the proud fighter's being and causing it to cow.

Abyss gave another loud battle cry, a sharp 'Sol!' before it flashed forward, paw scything down in a powerful Night Slash. It was doubly resisted, but even the Heracross found no strength in itself to weather the attack. It was a square blow, striking the dual type and sending flying, just as it had sent Shinx n the very same way. Rolling further, it came to a standstill, welcoming an oblivion that was shared between itself and its former electric foe.

Sparing a glance for the fainted bug-type; it'd be alright, very few chose to go against a Heracross of all things; Eve raced to Felix's side, Abyss joining her as he broke into an easy lope, none the worse for the attack he'd taken. "Felix!" The girl called in alarm, "Take Shinx and run to the Centre! Go get her healed! Abyss will take care of any wild pokemon in the way!" Nodding to the Absol, she continued her course, forging a path ahead of the male while Abyss dashed off, flitting among the bushes as an occasional flash of white, keeping vigilance for any potential challengers.

(If you're curious, even a 5-hit Arm Thrust would have done 11.7 - 35.2% to Absol. Depends on damage variance. RNG rolled 13% so...yeah. Also, go on ahead and post, there are no pokemon nearby so you can go straight to the Centre.)

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Tue Nov 29, 2016 6:15 am

As Shinx was knocked unconscious and flew through the air, Felix could only watch in a strange sense of terror as Shinx hit the ground hard. Felix recovered from his shock and instantly dashed forward, not seeming to care that the massive bug type was pressing the attack. He just wanted to keep his friend safe. He didn't care if he got attacked, just so long as she was okay.

He wasn't paying attention as Eve sent Abyss to finish the fight; he was hugging Shinx too tightly to his chest. "You're going to be okay. You're going to be okay..." He kept repeating this to himself as he slowly rocked Shinx's comatose body. He heard the sounds of combat nearby but he didn't care. He was protecting his friend. When the battle seemed to end and Eve shouted her orders at Felix, he snapped out of his trance and nodded, getting to his feet. He chased after Eve, heading down the route and into the hustle and bustle of Jublife City. The most technologically advanced city in all Sinnoh, Jublife really was a marvel for all those seeing it for the first time. All the lights, the buildings, the television screens broadcasting Jublife TV, it was like a strange and beautiful amusement park. But Felix had lived in the city all his life. He was used to the sights and simply continued to run to the Pokemon Center. He burst through the doors and instantly appeared at the counter, where Nurse Joy was waiting with her same happy smile. "Don't worry," She mused. "We'll get your Shinx fixed up in no time at all. Please wait over there while we revive her." Felix nodded, sputtering many thanks in between gasps for air and made his way to an available seat. He sat there, his head in his hands.

How could he have let this happen? Why didn't he see that the Heracross was to big of an opponent for his little Shinx? Why did he let her fight the bug? All these questions rushed through his mind as he tried to keep himself together.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

(No worries, no worries o3o I'll just sit here and make a large-ish post ;3)
(Also, if you were interested (which you probably weren't) Night Slash was a guaranteed OHKO from full health even without the crit)

Eve drew great gasping breaths as she slowed near the fringe of the forest, where the city yawned like a massive maw. The sun was just setting, causing street lights to flicker and fade before gradually glowing intensely. Eve huffed and finally slowed to a stop, allowing Felix to rush past like a gust of wind. Silently she mused at his speed, before, in a similar puff of breeze, Abyss appeared by her side, shaking leaves and twigs out of his coat and causing Eve to smile wryly. She watched the male disappear into the lanes of the city, and hesitated. Why, she wondered, did she feel as though she was leaving behind an old life and stepping into a new one? Would she have to build again from the ground up? Would she ever go back home...?

Abyss nosed her, anxious to follow Felix. Though Eve was pretty sure Abyss could track the male down through scent, she rushed ahead without any further thoughts, keeping Felix in visual range at all times. Finally, she saw him enter a large, familiar, red-domed building. The Pokemon Centre. Eve drew long shuddering breaths, taking a moment to recuperate and look around, lingering outside the door. Was she really out here to rest, or...was she afraid to go inside?

"I'm not afraid!" She loudly proclaimed to no one; save Abyss, who looked up curiously, no one even heard. She frowned, and raised her face to the sky. Soon, the soft breeze and the gentle lull of humans moving about took the snap out of her tense muscles, and Eve found herself relaxing. Abyss huffed and sat down to patiently wait until she was ready to move.

Eve was left alone in silence with her thoughts, just a lilting breeze surrounding her limp form, propped up against the Centre wall. What were the thoughts that passed through in that quiet moment? One may never one, but she pushed off with a certain determination, quietly striding into the Centre, as though she'd had enough of worrying. Abyss chirruped in confusion, but padded in after her.

Eve hesitated at the door, which slid open, and stepped into the familiar, universal sterile environment of the Centre. Spotting Felix, she made a beeline for him. He seemed to be in shock, cradling his head in his hands. She reached out a hand to pat him on the shoulder, to comfort, to do something, but paused before withdrawing the extended appendage. Sitting opposite him, she leaned forward, like Felix was, looking aside at the counter, where the Nurse was busy talking to a Chansey. Abyss caught her eye, looking in the same direction she was. As though a silent question passed, the Absol shook his head, withdrawing slightly before settling down, spreading out on his side.

"She's gonna be okay, you know," Eve finally said quietly to Felix, eyes never coming off of Abyss. "Shinx is a tough little thing. Arceus be damned if she doesn't fight her way through this one as well." She managed a watery smile at the distraught male, hesitating again before reaching out with a hand, hoping to pat his shoulder, or maybe tap his hand.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Tue Nov 29, 2016 11:33 am

Felix didn't look up as Eve entered the center and took a seat across from him. His throat hurt and his eyes were holding in tears. Eve's words seemed to hit a wall that Felix had put up around him, shutting out any foreign thoughts or words. His mind was focused on too many things; the thoughts of how the battle had gone and how it could have gone differently, how he had failed Shinx as a Trainer, how he was afraid that Shinx was badly hurt, how scared he was of losing her.

He sensed Eve's hand near his head and he looked up, seeing her sitting there with a faint smile. He reached out and took her hand, holding it gently to the point where he was barely even touching it. Then he felt something inside snap and he suddenly rushed forward, wrapping Eve up in a big hug. He knew it must have surprised her and maybe he had taken a step too far but at that point he didn't care. He hugged her tightly, his eyes letting loose their pent up tears and his breathing becoming scattered and rough. His fear had managed to take over for a moment, his thoughts making him behave differently.

"I'm sorry," He almost whispered, his voice was too broken to raise the volume too much. "I'm just, scared." He actually began to shake. "She's all I've got left. I can't lose her too." His voice was so shaky, he was like a child again. He wasn't acting like an adult. And on top of that he was breaking down in front of a total stranger, a much younger total stranger too. Then it hit him. She must be going through a lot right now. Being thrown into a new region all together with no clear way of getting home, all by herself with her Pokemon. He wasn't being aware of her problems, as his own had clouded his vision.

"I'm sorry." He wiped his eyes and tried to smile. "You must be going through a lot and you don't need this right now."

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

(We already went over this, but lol that 'much younger' xD)

Eve's smile faded as Felix reached out, gently touching her hand, light as a Mothim's wing. Her heart rate began quickening as a familiar pain began to wash over her, writhing deep in her being. What was this sentiment that squirmed like a live, burning creature? Her heart ached with a wonted sadness, before she was suddenly engulfed in a powerful embrace.

The rapid movement elicited a quiet sound of surprise, and she half-rose, realizing Felix had darted across and drawn her into a tight hug. Her legs quivered, and she dropped to her knees - considering the height difference between herself and Felix, the taller male would be more comfortable this way anyways. She felt the body pressed against hers shake lightly as Felix - rather alarmingly - began to cry. Her breath caught, and her heartbeat was probably going through the roof. How was she supposed to console him?

In a broken voice, not much more than a quiver, Felix shakily apologized. Blood rushed to Eve's face as her head sank in embarrassment, and as the male admitted his fear, Eve slowly reached up and pulled Felix's head to her shoulder, burying her own face in his collarbone, before her hands dropped to awkwardly hover over his shoulder blades and back. This was perhaps too close for comfort for someone she'd just met an hour or so ago, but she did not know of any other way of comfort. Closure and a shoulder was all she could offer. And she hated herself for that.

Abyss, on the other hand - or paw, - was freaking out. Scrambling to his feet as Felix rushed past, he watched with wide eyes as Eve was wrapped in a fierce hug, and glanced around uneasily, unsure of what to do or where to look or how to act. He finally sat down and began furiously grooming himself, claws awkwardly clicking against the otherwise silent surroundings.

Felix's quiet voice and gentle breath was right next to the teenager's ear, causing the girl's stomach to do something of a flip, but on the bright side, she heard every anguished word Felix could offer. The warm tears the male shed dripped onto her shoulder, but the trainer only pressed his head closer to hers. "It's alright, it's alright," she whispered, sotto voce, even though she was aquiver with a turmoil of conflicting emotions. Her own confusion was dwarfed by Felix's ineffable sadness, and she now knew - she finally could comprehend a smidge of the male's pain - what he had undergone. Hiraeth. A longing for a home one could no longer return to.

"You're gonna be alright. She's gonna be alright. You'll both be fine...and I'm here for you." It wasn't much, but she was here to stand by him. Maybe Abra's Teleported for a reason. Her own breath was now ragged, and there was a light quiver to her mellifluous voice. Was she, she wondered idly at the back of her heated mind, a stone-cold sober part, offering correct comfort? They had both lost someone dear to them, but was empathy correct?

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry you're hurting, and I'm sorry I can't do anything to help you.

And even so...thank you for standing by me.

Eve's own eyes fluttered close, eyelashes glittering with a constellation of tears.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

Post by Razmor Wed Nov 30, 2016 9:26 am

Felix was surprised by Eve's words. Not an hour ago, this girl had teleported on top of him from a totally different region and environment. But now, here she was comforting him and keeping him together. He didn't even realize he was still shaking as he simply hugged the girl and tried to calm down. Abyss was furiously grooming himself and his panic made Felix smile a little bit. Eve's comforting words hit him hard, enough that he snapped out of his sadness and tried to refocus on the only positive he had going for him so far; at least he had a new friend.

He was dragged from his thoughts by a small paw on his hip and a soft mew. "Shi..." Felix's head snapped to his side where Shinx was standing, looking up at him with a questioning look as if she was confused why he was crying. Or maybe she was confused why her trainer was hugging the stranger? But at that point, Felix quickly let go of Eve and wrapped his arms around his little companion. He was practically glowing. "Shinx! Oh thank Arceus!" He held his friend close and she responded with a loud, happy purr and rubbing her face all over his chest and face. She even licked his cheek, causing an electric shock to numb his mouth for a second, but he didn't care. She was okay. That was the important part.

"There you go!" Nurse Joy said as she came out from the back room, followed by her Chansey. "Healed up good as new!" Felix walked over to the Nurse and bowed a little. "Thank you so much Nurse Joy!" She only smiled and nodded, returning the bow. "It's no trouble at all. It's what we do here." Felix returned his attention to Eve and walked back over to his seat. He sat down, still holding his friend tightly as his eyes looked up at Eve. "And thank you. I know I was blubbering there for a minute but I'm glad I had someone there to help me out."

Shinx seemed to pick up on the vibe and wriggled her way out of Felix's grasp. She jumped from his lap over to Eve's, those intense yellow eyes focusing on Eve's green ones. She seemed to be glaring at the girl, a twinge of some mysterious emotion being visible to those who are looking for it. Then it clicked. Shinx was jealous. She reinforced this idea by giving Eve a small shock with her leg muscles as she leaped back over to Felix's lap and curled up in a tight little ball of black and blue. She kept starring at Eve with those same intense eyes. In the Shinx's mind, she made a decision; she would get strong enough to protect herself and Felix. She would get so strong that Felix would never cry over her again. He'd never have to worry about her and run off to, this girl. It was her mission now to get much stronger.

Felix was a little confused by Shinx's behavior, but he looked back up at Eve with the same spark in his eyes. He was going to get stronger too. Strong enough to protect Shinx and strong enough to handle a defeat. He smiled the same bright smile he had on when the two had first met. "So, Ms. Iridescence, what's your plan now? You going to try and find a way back to Kanto? Or would you mind sticking around in Sinnoh for a while?" He had plans now. He and Shinx were going to train hard. One day, he'd even be able to take on Eve in a battle; Luxray vs. Abyss. He wanted to keep getting stronger, to travel the region, and finish his book. But he didn't mind a bit of company along the way.

Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot) Empty Re: Finding a Beginning (Group, Plot)

(Gah, anticlimatic! XD Also, sorry for the late reply! *types really reeeaaallllyy slooowwwlly....)

Eve was abruptly released as Felix's attention snapped to his side, eliciting another surprised sound from her. Part of her was curious about the sudden change, but for the most part, she was relieved he was back to normal. Her relief escalated to ecstasy as her gaze fell upon the somewhat curious, and mostly happy little Shinx. She was alright! Ahem, she meant, of course she was alright. She never doubted it. Poke mon dying in battle wad pretty rare after all.

Even though she herself played little part in the scene, she nodded gratefully at Nurse Joy as the helpful - and strangely eternally cheerful - woman walked back to her post. She'd never seen her, or her sisters grumpy. Was that even possible? ...she'd just jinxed herself, hadn't she?

Her attention diverted to her being when she felt two pairs of small paws on her lap. Shinx had jumped over, standing on her folded legs, and was staring up at her with an unfamiliar sentiment swirling in her clear amber eyes. Eve was caught off guard, and stared back cluelessly. Was she expected to do or say something?

Apparently she was, since the evidently unsatisfied and disgruntled Shinx shocked her with a spark, the electric current flowing into her body, both startling her as well as causing muscle movement enough for her to violently jump in surprise. Abyss too jumped to his feet, with his fur the cleanest it had been in weeks.

"W-woah, what was that about?" She asked, confused and disoriented, asking herself as much as Felix. Abyss only nodded philosophically before settling down again. If she could put Eve in her place like that, he had no quarrel with her.

"M-my plan?" Shoving aside her buzzing thoughts, Eve directed her attention back to Felix with some effort. Come to think of, she hadn't quite thought about it yet. Given the choice, she'd definitely go back home, but at the same time, she'd like to extend her visit to Sinnoh as much as possible. Cruise tickets would be expensive, and her mom would promptly freak out of she knew what was happening. She could wait until she found another pokemon that Teleported, or somehow find a ship back to Kanto. Deep in thought, she didn't quite answer Felix, just stared down with furrowed brows, muttering quietly, "I...don't know...no, that won't do...hmm, maybe..."
Yeah, the confused teenager was never gonna figure it out on her own.
